Why this course? This course explores the theory behind sport and exercise, to understand how the body reacts and responds to the environment during activities. Analysing the performance requirements of sport and how to improve in a chosen sporting area. This course builds the fundamental skills to work within the sport and exercise sector. Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology Students explore how the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems function and the fundamentals of the energy systems. Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being. Students explore client screening and lifestyle assessment, fitness training methods and fitness programming to support improvements in a client’s health and well-being. Student profile Has an interest in Physical Education or Sport, wanting to learn how the body works or has an interest in how exercise and activity effects the body systems. Progression BTEC Nationals provide students with the depth and breadth of knowledge, understanding and skills required for further study into Higher Education. This course is suited to anyone looking in the areas of Sports Coach, Nutritionist, Personal Trainer or Leisure Centre Manager, Sports Leaders, PE Teacher or towards National Governing Bodies.
