Subsidiary Diploma is a work related qualification that focuses on the development of practical skills and underpinning knowledge in the science industry. It is equivalent to one GCE A Level. It provides underpinning knowledge in sciences required for industry recognised qualifications. Within the Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Science, mandatory units contain practical skills and underpinning knowledge judged to be essential whilst the structure allows learners flexibility in studying optional units. 3 mandatory units: Fundamentals of Science, Working in the Science, Industry Scientific Practical Techniques. 3 specialist units: Physiology of Human Body Systems, Medical Microbiology, Diseases and Infection
