Course summary
The course consists of Philosophy, Ethics and Theology. Philosophy involves asking the ‘big’ questions about knowledge, reality and existence. In this A Level, we focus on the Philosophy of Religion. The Philosophy units include arguments about the existence of God; as well as challenges to religious belief from psychology, science and the problem of evil. Ethics involves the study of ethical theories, both religious and nonreligious, which are then applied to ethical issues such as ideas of right and wrong, freedom and determinism, virtue, relationships and sexuality. The Theology unit looks at the nature of God, the Reformation and Early Church and developments in religious thought such as Feminist Theology
