Course summary

Students studying further mathematics A –level do this in addition to the S ingle mathematics A –level course. Students will be introduced to new areas of maths such as complex numbers and matrices. There will also be an opportunity to study decision mathematics. Decision mathematics is the study of algorithms and optimization, finding efficient solutions to problems. The work covered is applicable to many real world situations and is a useful part of the course for students studying Computer Science. The extra mechanics unit would be particularly useful for any students planning on studying Engineering or Physics at a higher level.

Entry requirements

5 x 9-5 passes at GCSE, with English and Maths at a grade 5 or above A grade 6+ in the subjects students would like to study (or related subjects)

How you'll be assessed
