
The course consists of a variety of topics drawn from the Foundation Tier course that was studied during year 11. The exam will consist of three papers the first of which will be non-calculator followed by two calculator exams each of equal waiting. There is no controlled assessment for GCSE Mathematics. This one-year course will review ‘key’ topics such as solving equations, fractions, percentages, angles, area, probability, averages, diagrams as well as other short topics such as ratios and negative numbers. Special emphasis will be given during the latter part of the course to examination technique and practice questions. Students are encouraged to purchase a revision guide to support their learning. To achieve success, students are encouraged to bring their full equipment including a scientific calculator to all lessons. This course is aimed for students who wish to achieve a GCSE grade 5 in Mathematics.
