What do I need to know or be able to do before taking this course? You do not need to have studied Sociology at GCSE in order to take an A Level course in the subject. It is more important that you should have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in the world around you and in asking questions, a desire to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate your ideas effectively. What will I learn on this course? The debates around different sociological perspectives on society. The impact of society on the individual. How to conduct sociological research effectively. About contemporary social issues. To question to status quo and discuss ways to improve society for the better. What skills will I develop by doing this course? This course will enable you to develop some key skills, which will be essential to you whatever you go on to do afterwards.
