A KS4 score of at least 40 points in the best eight (equivalent to grade 5) and at least 5, 9-5 grades in GCSE courses including 5 in English. GCSE Mathematics grade 6 or above is required. All students will be required to complete a booster algebra course at the start of year 12 to enable the department to gauge student prospects for A level. Those not passing the booster course will be strongly advised to consider an alternative to A level maths. All student follow an Induction course for the first two weeks of the A level programme. This covers the more difficult GCSE grade 7 topics. This is followed by the Induction test in which student must prove they are ready to start the A level course.
