Biology A-Level
Course summary
In Biology A-Level, students must be able to use standard form, use significant figures, rearrange equations, use logarithms and have a good grasp of algebra to succeed. Therefore a Grade 5+ in Maths is required. The subject content is broken down into eight sections, each of which has associated mathematical and practical skills: • Unit 1: Biological molecules • Unit 2: Cells • Unit 3: Organisms exchange substances with their environment • Unit 4: Genetic information, variation, and relationships between organisms • Unit 5: Energy transfers in and between organisms • Unit 6: Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments • Unit 7: Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems • Unit 8: The control of gene expression
