
This qualification is designed for learners who have an interest in sport and may or may not have studied an aspect of sport at Level 2 (GCSE or Level 2 equivalent). What will the learner study as part of this qualification? This qualification shows learners how to: • Understand and identify how the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory and energy systems work within the body and during sport. • Explore the process required for screening fitness clients and examining lifestyle and nutritional intake in order to design and monitor fitness training programmes. • Explore different career pathways in order to be successful in the sports industry by reflecting and improving processes to obtain job offers. • Explore different forms of leadership and understand what it takes to be a good leader Mandatory units Examination Units (Externally Assessed - 120 GLH each) Unit 1: Anatomy & Physiology exam paper Unit 2: Fitness Training and programming for Health, Sport and Well-being exam case study Assignment Based Units (Internally Assessed - 60 GLH) Unit 3 - Professional Development in the Sports Industry Optional Assignment Based Units (Internally Assessed - 60 GLH) Unit 4 - Sports Leadership Unit 6 - Sports Psychology Unit 7 - Practical sports performance
A passion for exercise, health and fitness is desirable to gain the most out of the qualification. Grade 4+ in PE and Science GCSE is preferable but not essential.
