IBCP = 2 x IBCP diploma subjects + 1 x vocational subject Why this course? Film is a powerful and stimulating art form and practice. IB Film students will become proficient interpreters and makers of film texts. Through the study and analysis of film texts, and practical workshops in film production, this course will develop students’ critical abilities and their appreciation of artistic, cultural, historical, and global perspectives in film. Student profile As an IB Film student, you are an inquisitive and creative individual with a profound appreciation for the art of filmmaking. You possess a keen eye for detail and a natural curiosity about the world around you, which fuels your desire to explore narratives and emotions through the lens of a camera. IB Film students are critical thinkers, able to deconstruct the layers of meaning in films and appreciate the cultural, historical, and social contexts that shape cinematic storytelling. You have a passion for dissecting the visual elements of film, including cinematography, mise en scène, and editing, to uncover the nuanced messages within each frame. In the IB Film program, you’ll work independently and collaboratively, honing your skills in film production and analysis. You’ll build a portfolio of your work, explore a diverse range of films from different cultures and eras, and develop a critical awareness of the impact of media on our world. Entry requirements

GENERIC IB ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: 5 GCSE'S 4-9, including English Language SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Grade 5 or above in both English Lit & Lang. If student has taken Level 2/GCSE equivalent in that subject – Grade 4 or equivalent to Level 2 pass. Previous experience and/or Creative Arts qualification required.

Textual analysis (external assessment 20%). Comparative study (external assessment 20%). Film portfolio (internal assessment 25%). Collaborative film project (internal assessment 35%).
