Who is the course for? Students who have studied German to GCSE level 5 standard What you’ll learn? The AS level German course enables students to use their language skills for the study of key and current political and social issues of German speaking countries. Students will have to discuss both in speaking , writing and translation topics such as racism, integration, youth culture, social trends and issues as well as key historical events such as the German reunification or the European Union. Students will equally be required to use their language skills to respond to various texts and audios within those topics. In addition, students will study the artistic world of German speaking countries and will gain a closer understanding of for example, pop culture, key artists and architecture. Finally, students will study a foreign text such as a novel or play and a foreign film. Students will need to analyse and evaluate their views on these topics, films and foreign literature.
