Physics A – a content-led approach. A flexible approach where the specification is divided into topics, each covering diferent key concepts of physics. As learners progress through the course they will build on their knowledge of the laws of Physics, applying their understanding to solve problems on topics ranging from applications of forces and motion through to sub-atomic particles and quantum physics. In Year 1 we study mechanics, materials, waves and electricity and in Year 2 we study fields, particles, thermodynamics, space and medical physics.
To study Physics you will need a minimum of a grade 6 in GCSE Physics or a 7-7 in Combined Science.
3 Papers: Paper 1 (2h15m) assesses modules 1, 2, 3 & 5 [37%]; Paper 2 (2h15m) assesses modules 1, 2, 4 & 6 [37%]; Paper 3 (1h30m) assesses all modules [26%]. There is also a non-examined practical component which is assessed within lessons and leads to a practical endorsement.
