A Level History provides a fantastic curriculum for students to ignite and engage their passions and interests. There is not one ‘correct’ approach to History as a subject. It’s too valuable and simply too massive to be limited to a mere handful of approved options. A-level students must take assessments in all three of the following components in the same series: Component 1: Breadth study Component 2: Depth study Component 3: Historical investigation (Personal study) This means you will: • Study the history of more than one country or state in addition to the study of British history • Study topics, covering an extended period of history of approximately 200 years Our aim is to create independent learners, critical thinkers and decision-makers – all personal assets that can make you stand out as you progress to higher education and/or the workplace. This qualification is designed to foster the development of critical and reflective thinking with an understanding of historical topics and issues; and to encourage an awareness of the importance of historical awareness in explaining contemporary issues.
