Throughout this two-year course students develop transferable written and oral skills. The study of the past helps develop a greater appreciation of the society and world we live in, through the analysis of past eras in Britain and further afield. Year 12 modules: Unit 1: Britain 1625-1701 – Conflict, Revolution and Settlement Unit 2: Russia in Revolution, 1894-1924 Year 13 modules: Unit 3: Civil Rights in America 1860-2009 Unit 4: Coursework History is one of the most popular and most studied subjects at university and college. Minimum five GCSE passes (grades 4 or 5) including English Language and Maths. Students must also meet subject specific minimum entry requirements (shown below).
Year 13 - three three examinations and coursework. Unit 1 - worth 30%: 2 hour 15 minute examination Three questions, with one question involving the use of Historians’ interpretations. Unit 2 - worth 20%: 1 hour 30 minute examination Two questions, with one involving source analysis. Unit 3 - worth 30%: 2 hour 15 minute examination Three questions, with one involving source analysis. Unit 4 - coursework worth 20%: Completed during autumn term of Yr 13. 3000-4000 word enquiry on causes of the February Revolution in Russia.
