You will study how designers work in industry when designing and making quality products. You will build your knowledge of materials, components and processes and apply learning in practice to create functional and fashionable solutions which appeal to a target market. Fashion and Textiles offers an opportunity to develop your own innovation, creativity and design capability. The course is intended to reflect the wider ranging activities of professional designers and so promotes independent learning and the chance to develop skills in problem solving when producing high quality products. It is possible for pupils to choose A Level Fashion and Textiles without any previous experience. An enthusiasm for all aspects of Textiles design is crucial as the NEA (non-examined assessment) can be both demanding and time consuming. A core requirement of the subject is the ability to draw and present concepts and design ideas.
