Course summary
The A Level AQA Music Course will: ● Draw on their experiences at GCSE in performance, composition, listening skills, and theory. ● Offer a meaningful foundation for the study of Music beyond A-level. ● Give students an understanding, and encourage appreciation, of all music genres. MUSC1: Appraising Music (40% of A Level) Listening & Written Paper Section A contains structured listening questions using a CD of musical excerpts. Sections B & C are essay questions with one based on a classical set works (Baroque concerto, Mozart opera, Romantic piano pieces) and one on a second area of study MUSC2: Performing (35% of A Level) Candidates will perform a short solo program lasting 10 to 12 minutes. MUSC3: Composing: Developing Musical Ideas (25% of A Level) Two briefs, externally assessed completed within a maximum of 20 hours of controlled time.
