Studying Drama and Theatre will give you the determination and confidence to challenge assumptions, realise your creative impulse, and develop a strong sense of curiosity. It is a course that will lay the foundations for any future career or study that requires leadership, critical analysis, and working as part of a team. Component 1: Theatre Workshop (20% of qualification) Study a text together to create a devised performance, taking on the role of either designer or performer. Create a portfolio recording the process and their own contribution to it. Component 2: Text in Action (40% of qualification) Create two pieces of live theatre: one using the methods of either a theatre practitioner or theatre company, and one extract from a text in a different style to the devised piece. Students will also write a process and evaluation report. Component 3: Text in Performance (40% of qualification) Students will demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and skills in interpreting texts for performance in a written examination. In preparation, students will: - Attend live theatre performances and make notes on the production values. - Explore two complete play texts and one extract from a third contrasting text.
To study A levels at QPCS you have to achieve at least six GCSE grades 5 - 9. Grade 5 in Drama, or successful participation in productions or at KS3, and Grade 5 in English Language
