Why this course? The Level 3 Food Science and Nutrition Diploma is an academic, creative, and innovative course that encourages students to take a broad view of food science and nutrition. It is rigorous and challenging whilst being practical and fun, much of the learning being through hands-on practical experiences and learning through doing. Students will have the opportunity to learn through acquiring knowledge about the relationship between the human body and food as well as practical cooking and preparing food. Level 3 in Food Science and Nutrition is the suggested alternative course to A-level Food Technology which ceased to exist in 2017, it offers excellent progression from the new GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition. It is a course recognized and valued by Universities and holds UCAS points in line with A level. Course Content Learners complete three units, two mandatory and one optional, for the diploma. Year 12 Unit 1: Meeting Nutritional Needs of Specific Groups. Entry requirements

Five Grade 4 or above at GCSE or equivalent.

How you'll be assessed

A combination of external exams and internally assessed externally moderated coursework. Grades will be awarded as - Distinction*, Distinction, Merit, and Pass.
