Course summary

This exciting new Level 3 course from Pearson gives you the opportunity to study the hottest subject currently in the world of technology. Do your future aspirations include seeing yourself working in cyber security or perhaps developing the latest app for use over different platforms or the languages used in website development? Then this course can set you on your path to your dreams. In the first year, you will learn about the emerging networking technology and the internet of things. Develop your skills in handling data and developing an information system. Create a website using client side languages such as HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. Understand and use the fundamentals of programming technique learning languages such as C# and Python. Come back for the second year to develop further skills and knowledge in Cyber Security and Incident Management. Learn how to manage computing projects and analyse big data. Through a combination of external, internal and synoptic assessment, you will study both mandatory and optional units. There are opportunities to take part in national competitions, go on trips to the Space Centre, Computer Museum and BBC. Have the opportunity to take part in work placements in Ireland and further abroad such as Spain. Entry requirements

You'll need 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above, which should include maths and English. You may also access this course with a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject, ideally with a distinction or merit grade, including maths and English. You will be invited to attend an interview.
