What will I study in Year 12: • Theory and Methods – this includes the five main theories of society as well as the methodological approach and main methods used by sociologists • Families and Households – this includes theories of the family, childhood, demography and social policies linked to the family • Education and Methods in Context – this includes educational policies, differential educational achievement by class, gender and ethnicity, and applying methods to an education context What will I study in Year 13: • Theory and Methods – this includes the science of sociology, sociology and social policy and the view of values in sociology • Crime and Deviance – this includes theories of crime, crime prevention and the role of the criminal justice system and the impact of globalisation and green crime on society • Global Sociology – this includes theories of development, global case studies, approaches to aid and trade and the impact of war on development

Five Grades 9-5 at GCSE including English

How you'll be assessed

External assessments: 3 x 2-hour exam papers at the end of the second year
