The new Pearson A Level in Spanish has been developed to inspire all students who have an appreciation of the language, literature, film and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. In the recent “Languages for the Future” report, Spanish was highlighted as the most important language for people in the UK to learn (www.britishcouncil.org). There are more than 400 million native speakers of Spanish, making it second only to Chinese as the most spoken languages in the world. During the Spanish A Level you will look at the language in terms of society, background, and heritage. The knowledge gained through lessons will help students to read, write, speak and listen with Spanish. As students become confident in their language proficiency, there will be opportunity to explore Spanish through additional resources such as film and text.
