Politics has been unpredictable and equally remarkable since the EU referendum 2016. Since then we have seen; three different Prime Ministers, two General Elections, a Hung Parliament, an ongoing Constitutional crisis, UK Government defeated twice in the Supreme Court and all this was before the global pandemic of Coronavirus! We have also seen groups, from Extinction Rebellion, to individuals like Marcus Rashford campaign to seek change. A footballer, Marcus Rashford, managed to convince the government to do a U-turn on free school meals. One person, largely down to his fame and following, has managed to make a significant impact. Politics is, without a doubt, a living and breathing subject! A-Level Politics will allow you to unravel all of this and understand the context behind it. We will explore democracy and assess the merits, understand our rights as well evaluate the UK political system and government. In Year 13, we explore the political landscape in the international arena and how a lack of world government can indeed lead to self-interested states and potentially war.
