Course summary

Physics plays a big part in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. You will learn the basic theoretical principles underlying the subject, where there is a strong emphasis on using these principles to solve problems and answer questions that strike at the fundamental heart of science. The ability to match empirical experiences with mathematical solutions will strengthen your conceptual knowledge and give a deeper understanding of the world around us. You will learn and develop important investigative skills as you tackle new practical tasks and challenges. Skillful use of equipment will be coupled with powerful analytical and evaluative techniques. - In Year 12 you will address Particle and Quantum Physics, Wave Phenomena, Electricity and Mechanics. - In Year 13 you will study Thermodynamics, Further Mechanics and Fields, Nuclear Physics, Capacitance and Magnetism and Astrophysics.

Entry requirements

General college entry requirements plus a grade 5 or above in GCSE Mathematics, grades 5/5/5 in GCSE separate sciences OR grades 6/6 in GCSE Science double award.
