This qualification is designed as a two-year full time course. It will provide students with an in-depth study of the health and social care sector. This course supports progression to health and social care related degrees at university or into employment within either sector. This course has 8 mandatory units and 5 optional units that have to be successfully achieved in order to gain the full qualification. Four of the mandatory units are externally tested (42%) and the remaining units are internally assessed by the teaching team (72%). All students will be required to attend work experience in a health or social care setting for one day each week. In order to do this a Disclosure Barring Check will have to be completed before students are able to undertake work experience in a health or social care setting. Due to the high numbers of students enrolling on this course and requiring work experience the college is unable to guarantee that students work experience placements will be within the immediate vicinity of the college or their home.
