Biology is a complex and broad science. You will enjoy this course if you are interested in all aspects of living organisms, how they work and how they interact with their environment. The course looks at different types of biological organisms, how this variation is brought about and explores how they function and survive in their environment. You will initially look at some human systems, the diseases that can affect them and ways in which the body’s defense mechanisms work. At the end of Year 12 you are invited on a field trip to Bristol which provides an exciting opportunity to study organisms in their natural habitat.
General college entry requirements plus a grade 5 or above in GCSE Mathematics, grades 5/5/5 in GCSE separate sciences OR grades 6/6 in GCSE Science double award.
