This A Level introduces learners to advanced language studies and provides an engaging and inviting opportunity for learners to build on previous study through four themes. These themes address a range of content related to society past and present, as well as aspects of the political and artistic culture of Pakistan and areas of India where Urdu is an official language. Theme 1 is set in the context of Pakistan and covers society past and present. Theme 2 is set in the context of the Urdu speaking world, covering artistic culture, past and present (folklore, popular culture) and political culture past and present (Media). Theme 3 is set in the context of Pakistan and covers society past and present. Theme 4 is set in the context of Pakistan. This theme covers political culture past and present. Through exposure to source materials in a variety of formats, you will practice skills such as: • Translating previously unseen passages into English • Reading comprehension exercises • Study of literature and culture • Research work • Film and television studies • Listening exercises from which you will summarise differing points of view
