It can lead to careers as a musician, composer, sound engineer, producer, musicologist, music therapist, private tutor and teacher. • The Western Classical Tradition (The Development of the Symphony 1750-1900) which includes two set works. • A choice of one area of study from: Area of study B: Rock and Pop, Area of study C: Musical Theatre and Area of study D: Jazz • A choice of one area of study from: Area of study E: Into the Twentieth Century including two set works. Area of study F: Into the Twenty-first Century including two set works.

Component 1; Written listening exam on the units studied, taken at the end of Year 13, 40% of qualification. Coursework makes up 60% of the final grade, details across. Option A: Performance (10-12 minutes) 35% and composition (4-6 minutes) 25%. Option B: Performance (6-8 minutes) 25% and composition (8-10 minutes) 35%
