The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a standalone qualification designed to extend and develop your skills in independent research and project management. It is awarded UCAS points worth half an A-level and is recognised by universities and employers; some leading universities make alternative offers to those students undertaking an EPQ. The EPQ requires you to carry out research on a topic that they have chosen and is not covered by their other qualifications. You then use this research to produce a written report and, in the case of practical projects, an artefact or a production. Most importantly, you can take inspiration from something studied in class or something completely unrelated to their studies.
MiGrade 5 or above in GCSE English Literature or GCSE English Language
All students must submit a written report for assessment of between 1,000 and 5,000 words. The exact length of each written report will depend on the nature of the project, the subject area chosen and the other evidence provided.
