The course focuses on developing your analytical skills and wider understanding in relation to the media framework of representation, audience, industry and media language. You will be introduced to a broad range of texts and platforms before specialising in the set texts provided by Eduqas. Media Studies also retains an element of coursework, so you will be able to apply your knowledge by producing and realising your own cross-media production based on two different media platforms. You will become highly adept at responding to different media texts in relation to the media framework. You will be able to analyse and evaluate different representations and meanings of media texts and how they convey their meanings to different audiences. You will develop a broad understanding of how media industries produce, promote and market different media products and how new media technologies are key in distributing these products to different audiences.
Grade 5 or above in GCSE English or English Language. GCSE Media is an advantage but not essential.
