Unit 1: Early Tudors and the Mid Tudor Crisis. This will include: • The government of Henry VII and threats to his rule • Henry VII’s foreign policy • Henry VIII and Wolsey • The reign of Henry VIII after 1529 It will also include an element of source analysis about the reigns of Edward VI and Mary I on the following issues: • The Stability of the Monarchy • Religious Changes • Rebellion and Unrest Unit 2: The French Revolution and the rule of Napoleon. This topic will look at the following: • The causes of the Revolution • The Revolution between 1789-1795 • Napoleon to 1807 • The decline and fall of Napoleon Unit 3: Civil Rights in the USA 1865-1992. This topic will look at the issue of Civil Rights for the following groups: • African Americans • Trade Union and Labour Rights • Native American Indians • Women It will also include three depth studies; • Civil Rights in the ‘Gilded Age’ 1875-95. • The New Deal and Civil Rights. • Malcom X and Black Power Unit 4: Coursework Students will undertake a piece of coursework that examines a historical issue of their choosing. Students will gain a wide range of skills from studying History. These include; developed and extended writing; analysis and evaluation of evidence; understanding different viewpoints and presenting and discussing different arguments about the past.
