This course is aimed at students who want to pursue a professional career in the construction and built environment industry. It is recognised as a formal progression path towards gaining higher-level qualifications in a wide range of professional careers within construction, such as bricklayer, shopfitter, carpenter and plasterer. On this T Level, you can chose between three pathways: • Carpentry and Joinery • Bricklayer • Plasterer Across the two years, you will cover both core and specialist units. The core units will develop your general understanding of the industry. The specialist units will cover more in-depth topics suitable to your chosen specialism (pathway) and career. Core units: • Health and safety • Methods of construction • Accurate measuring techniques • Building regulations and standards • Sustainability and environmental impacts • Science behind design, surveying and planning • Relationship management and customer services • Digital Technologies - Internet of Things (IoT) • Mathematical Techniques • Construction design principles and processes • The construction industry and its role in the economy • Business, commerce and corporate social responsibilities
This course is only available to 16-18 year olds. • A minimum of two GCSEs at grade 4 in English language and maths. • Or a relevant higher level transition programme in construction.
You will be assessed through examinations, applied and practical assessments in class and through a project set by your employer. Upon completion you will be awarded an overall grade (Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*). A T Level is a nationally-recognised qualification and your certificate will reflect this and will display your overall grade. The certificate will also explain your grade from A* to E for the core component and any occupational specialisms you will receive a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. It will also record whether you’ve achieved the minimum requirements for your maths and English qualifications as well as if you’ve completed the industry placement and any other additional mandatory requirements.
