This qualification is based on the national occupational standards for hairdressing and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a senior hairdresser/stylist. Throughout this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. You will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients, provide a range of cutting and colouring services as well as set, dress and finish the hair. In parallel, you will develop your communication and customer service skills, your awareness of environmental sustainability and your commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem-solving and research skills will also be developed. Please note - your timetable will include one late evening per week. If you plan to use the college bus service, please be aware that this does not currently operate in the evenings, therefore you would have to make your own travel arrangements home. • Hairdressing consultation • Hair cutting and colouring services • Setting and dressing services • Colour correction • Bridal hair • Blow-drying and finishing services
• Grade 4 in English, grade 4 in maths, • Plus a relevant Level 2 Diploma. If you are a young person who is not currently studying a traditional GCSE programme, we will consider alternative qualifications such as functional skills and vocational qualifications.
You will be assessed via a mix of externally set, internally graded practical assessments as well as externally marked exams and externally set, internally graded synoptic assessment.
