Physics is the most basic and fundamental science; the study of matter and energy. Physics is crucial to understanding the world around us, the world inside us, and the world beyond us. The A-Level Physics course covers a wide range of physics topics from the tiniest sub-atomic particles, the strange phenomenon of wave-particle duality and all the way back to the evolution of the cosmos we now exist within. The Physics A-Level covers: • Particles and Quantum Phenomena. • Electricity • Mechanics and Energy • Waves and oscillations • Fields • Properties and uses of materials
GCSE Maths: 6 GCSE English: 5 These requirements are in addition to the general entry requirements. • have at least a grade 4 in both English Language and mathematics; and • have an average GCSE grade of at least a 5 in six GCSE subjects.
There will be two written examinations at the end of Year 12 that will assess you on a subset of the full A-Level content. Each exam will last 90 minutes and will form your Year 12 grade. At the end of Year 13, you will be assessed in all topics covered through three written examinations, each lasting two hours. Two of the examination papers will assess your knowledge and understanding and will each form 35% of your final grade. The third examination paper will consist of questions on practical technique and data analysis; it will form the remaining 30% of your A-Level grade.
