All students will study topics from Pure mathematics, Mechanics and Decision Mathematics and there will also be links within the topics which are assessed through problem solving questions. The course is made up of 50% of the content is compulsory and covers the following topic areas: •Matrices •Proof •Complex Numbers •Further algebra and functions •Further calculus •Further vectors •Polar coordinates •Hyperbolic functions •Differential Equations The remaining 50% will come from topics within Further Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Decision math's. Career paths: Further Math A level is a desirable qualification for all courses and possible future careers include: Engineering, Accounting, Actuary, Banking and Finance, Computing, Marketing, Medical Statistics, Mathematical Biologists, Logistics, Government agencies including MI5 and the Ministry of Defense.
A Grade 7 in GCSE Math's is the minimum requirement, however a Grade 8 is highly desirable.
In total there will be 3 exams of 2 hours each in Year 2 50% Further Core Pure mathematics - this will be assessed by 2 exams of 1.5 hours each 50% chosen from 2 modules on Further Pure mathematics, Decision Math's or Mechanics - this will be assessed by 2 exams of 1.5 hours each
