Year 1 •Aspects of French speaking society – family, cyber society, voluntary work •Artistic culture in the French speaking world – music and cinema •Study of a film •Grammar and vocabulary Year 2 •Aspects of French speaking society – diversity, the marginalized, criminals •Political life in the French speaking world – teenagers, strikes, immigration •Study of a book or play •Research on a topic of your own choice •Grammar and vocabulary Career paths: Languages will enhance any career which operates on an international basis e.g. business, law, sport, culture and science. In fact it can enhance virtually every career.
You need to be predicted at least a Grade 6 in French, if you achieve a Grade 5 in the results please talk to your French teacher.
Exams are at the end of the second year Paper 1: Listening, reading and translation (50% of marks) Paper 2: Essay each on the film and book/play (20% of marks) Oral: discussion of one of the above themes and your research topic (30% of marks)
