This combination of courses is equivalent to three A-levels and provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for young people to progress into employment in IT and digital media. This CTEC course will help students to: - Gain a range of specialist knowledge and transferable skills in the context of applied IT and the digital media industry. - Prepare for employment or progress into apprenticeships in the IT-related sectors. Progression: This course gives students access to further education and the world of work in a full range of specialties, from business and project management, through to website design and computer graphics and animation. Students have gone on to do successful courses in business as well as programming, gaming and website creation. A number of students have also gone on to well-paid recognized apprenticeships.
To be considered for this course, you will need an average GCSE point score of 5 (C) including a minimum of grade 5 (C) in Math's and English. If you have not obtained a grade 4 in Maths and English, you may be asked to re-take your Math's and English GCSEs. Good prior knowledge of ICT is also advisable.
The course assessed in three ways: - Assignments: Set and marked by teachers - Tasks: Work-based challenges in timed, realistic work conditions - Written exams Approximately 1/3 is examination based.
