Level 3 Maths Studies is a maths qualification to support other A Level subjects. It was developed as part of a national strategy to address the maths skills gap in employment. Awarded at grades A – E, the qualification is also worth 20 UCAS points. By taking the course it helps to prepare students for life and work, how to invest money, understand mortgages and how to interpret and present information. Level 3 Maths Studies suits students who have an interest in higher level numeracy and problem solving. It is also beneficial to students who are taking a course that has a link to maths. To study at Bilborough Sixth Form College you must achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4 including English and Maths. We count L2 BTEC merit as equivalent to one GCSE.
Assessment consists of 2 exams covering analysis of data, personal finance, estimation and statistics. The commitment required by students is 4.5 hours per week but like your other studies you are offered full support and subject drop-in.
