Our BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate Program is suitable for any students with a keen interest in Sport. This qualification is worth one A-level. Students would study two other A-levels alongside (can be a combination of A-levels and BTECs). You will also have the opportunity to play for the college sports teams in women’s and men’s football, rugby, netball, hockey, women’s and men’s basketball and cricket. This programme is designed to support progression to higher education. Our courses are designed with plenty of interest in modules which will hopefully help you to determine a sport or non-sport based career path.
- 5 GCSEs at 4 or above including English and Maths and either a 5 in PE or a 5 in a Science. - To study at Bilborough Sixth Form College you must achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4 including English and Maths. We count L2 BTEC merit as equivalent to one GCSE.
You will study 4 units over two years of study. Mandatory Units: - Anatomy and Physiology – this is a written assessment which will be externally marked. - Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being – this is an externally set case study and will be externally marked. - Professional Development in the Sports Industry. Optional Units (students will study one of the following): - Coaching for Performance. - Application of Fitness Testing. - Practical Sports Performance. - All other units other than those specified are internally assessed via coursework which could be presentations, -written reports, role plays and practical observations.
