Course Units: YEAR 1 Unit 01: CHANGE IN ITALIAN SOCIETY • Changes in Family Structures • Education • The World of Work Unit 02: POLITICAL AND ARTISTIC CULTURE IN THE ITALIAN SPEAKING WORLD: • Music • Media • Cultural Heritage YEAR 2 Unit 03: EVOLVING ITALIAN SOCIETY • The Positive Impact of Immigration in Italian Society • Facing the Changes of Migrant Society • North-South Divide Unit 04: FASCISM AND BEYOND • The Rise of Mussolini • Fascism in WW2 • From Dictatorship to Democracy Course Can Lead To: With an Italian A Level qualification you can study the language at University as a subject in itself or pair with another subject of your choice. You can also follow different career paths, such as: Translator, Interpreter, Teacher, Journalist and Bilingual Secretary. You can also work in a variety of sectors like Business, Finance, Tourism, Media, Retail and many others.
To qualify to study 3 A level/ Applied subjects, you will need to achieve 6 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, preferably including English Language or Math's at grade 4 or above. In addition/ within those 6 GCSEs, for this subject you will need to achieve Grade 6 in Italian. Native speakers to be interviewed by Head of MFL if they do not have a GCSE qualification in Italian.
You will have three examinations: Paper 1: listening-reading-translation 40% Paper 2: written response to works and translation into target language 30% Paper 3: speaking 30%
