Course summary

The topics studied in year one of the course include a range of social issues and trends such as changes to family life in Spain, education and the impact of tourism. You will also study aspects of the political and artistic culture. Topics include different festivals and traditions, music and media. In the second year of the course you will learn about immigration and you will also cover ‘The Two Spain's: 1936 onwards’. You will study a set film and book which will be assessed through a target language essay and there will be an independent research project assessed within the Speaking exam. Course Can Lead To: With a Spanish A Level qualification you can study the language at University as a subject in itself or joined to another subject of your choice. You can also follow different career paths, such as: Translator, Interpreter, Teacher, Journalist and Bilingual Secretary. You can also work in a variety of sectors like Business, Finance, Tourism, Media, Retail and many others.
