Mathematics (Further)
Course summary
A Further Mathematics A-Level is extremely useful in a multitude of fields. It is highly advantageous (and potentially required) to study Mathematics at university, but it is also very beneficial for Sciences (especially Physics), Engineering, Economics, and Computer Science. We advise you to look at the UCAS website to see if Further Mathematics is required for the course that you would like to do. AS/A-Level Further Mathematics may be a suitable course for you. AS/A-Level Further Mathematics builds on the ideas presented in pure mathematics (calculus, trigonometry, algebra, and vectors) but also introduces some rather different concepts in areas such as complex numbers, polar coordinates, and hyperbolic functions. We have also chosen components in the fields of mechanics and statistics as our options for the applied part of the AQA course. To study Further Mathematics, you must also study Mathematics alongside it, meaning that you will spend a total of 10 hours each week in the Mathematics department.
