Course summary

A Politics A-Level qualification is very valuable in a multitude of fields and degree subjects; These include Politics, International Relations, Law, Economics, and the Humanities. This course examines both UK and global politics. You will learn about UK politics and international relations while also drawing on political issues in real-time as they develop throughout the year. Additionally, you will explore the strengths and weaknesses of UK democracy by examining political parties, participation in elections, how power is separated in the UK, and how the media affects the outcome of elections. This course will also teach you about relations between nation-states, issues in global governance, and international conflicts. Finally, you will study different political ideologies, such as liberalism, conservatism, and socialism, as well as political philosophy in general.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 6 grade 4s, including a grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language, is required. GCSE Maths must also be at grade 3 as a minimum. If GCSE Maths is at a grade 3, you would have to resit it.

How you'll be assessed

At A-Level, you will be assessed by three end-of-year exams. Similarly to the AS-Level examinations, questions will be a mix of explanation questions, source-based questions, and longer essay questions.
