This AS/A-Level is a standard two-year course that will lead to an A-Level Certificate in Urdu from Edexcel. This course aims to develop your communication skills to a high level while also increasing your awareness of various aspects of societies in which Urdu is spoken. This AS/A-Level course will also enhance your study skills in preparation for the world of work, further study, training, or leisure; it will aim to achieve this in an enjoyable, relevant, and bespoke way to meet the needs and wants of our students.
A minimum of 6 grade 4s, including a grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language, is required. GCSE Maths must also be at grade 3 as a minimum. If GCSE Maths is at a grade 3, you would have to resit it. All applicants to this course will also be asked to sit a pre-course examination to assess eligibility to undertake this course.
The full A-Level will be assessed by three end-of-year exams. The three examinations are: Paper 1: Translation into English, Reading Comprehension and Writing (Research Question) in Urdu Paper 2: Translation Into Urdu and Creating Written Responses to Various Works Paper 3: Listening, Reading and Writing in Urdu
