This is a full two-year BTEC course that is equivalent to three A-Levels. This BTEC is specifically designed for those wishing to progress into Higher Education courses in the Applied Science sector before entering employment. You will study Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, and contemporary issues within science. After successful completion of the first year, you will achieve a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Applied Science. This will present you with the opportunity to progress into your second year on the Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science, where you can achieve a BTEC that is worth the same amount of UCAS points as three A-Levels.
A minimum of 5 grade 4s, including a grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language, is required. GCSE Maths must also be at grade 4 as a minimum. A minimum of a grade 4 in GCSE Core Science or GCSE Additional or Applied Science is also required.
This two-year course contains 13 units; two of these units are assessed through exams, another two through externally set and marked tasks, and the other nine through internally set and marked assignments. The grades achieved for each unit are combined to give an overall final grade.
