Product Design: Fashion and Textiles is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. This specification encourages learners to use creativity and imagination when applying design processes to develop and modify designs, and to design and make prototypes that solve real world problems, considering their own and others’ needs, aspirations and values. You will learn to identify market needs and opportunities for new products, initiate and develop design solutions, and make and test prototypes. This specification enables learners to work creatively when designing and making, and apply technical expertise. It also encourages students to be open to taking design risks, showing innovation and enterprise and developing intellectual curiosity about the design and manufacture of products and systems.
Grade 5 in Textiles or relevant DT subject The minimum academic requirements for entry to the Sixth Form are: • 5 higher grade passes (grades 4-9) including English Language and Maths. • To study a subject at A level we require a grade 6 in that subject or a similar subject for A level subjects which are not currently studied at GCSE.
