This course will give you a broad knowledge of engineering as preparation for employment or higher education. The course comes in two parts consisting of this the first year followed by a second year (Aeronautical Engineering | Level 3 | Extended Diploma or Engineering | Level 3 | National Extended Diploma). Completing both parts is equivalent to 3 A levels. What you will study: The course is broken down into units including four mandatory units: • Engineering principles • Engineering product design and manufacture • Applied commercial and quality principles in engineering • Delivery of engineering processes and safety as a team Optional units include: • Computer Aided Design (CAD) • Electronic devices and circuits • Calculus to solve engineering problems
4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A*-C), including English and Maths, or a Level 2 qualification (Merit or Distinction) in a related subject. Note: for skills-based qualifications you might need the skills at Level 2 in order to enrol onto the Level 3.
A strong emphasis is placed on practical work and several assignments, projects and practical units are completed throughout the two-year course
