Course summary
YEAR 12 COURSE SPECIFICATION This course provides excellent progression from GCSE and it gives students the opportunity to follow a broad-based design course which stimulates creativity and innovation. Students will work on a series of designing and making (working with a range of different materials) activities and a detailed product investigation. They will be given the opportunity to look at various industrial practices. Throughout the course candidates study towards the terminal written papers and design coursework portfolio. YEAR 13 COURSE SPECIFICATION This course further encompasses creative, independent learning and candidates have the opportunity to work on a major design assignment of their own choice. Students will look in greater detail at industrial practices along with the development of existing products. Throughout the course candidates study towards a terminal exam paper.

4 GCSEs at or above grade 6 with a 5 or above in English language and they should have completed at least 8 GCSEs 6+ in DT, similar medium to product design. Graphics is not a suitable DT course 6+ in maths

Assessment
The two year full A Level is made up of two components; the personal investigation and the externally set exam. These are both internally marked and externally moderated by Edexcel.
