Course summary

A Level English Language is a fascinating course for anyone who wants to broaden their horizons while challenging their knowledge and understanding of how language is used and learnt both in the British Isles and around the world. You will learn how language is used to represent different groups, cultures and societies and how children learn and develop language. We will provide you with a variety of written, spoken and multimodal texts to help you develop your own critical, analytical and evaluative skills. You will learn how to apply different language levels of analysis to a range of written and spoken texts. You will be able to identify how people use language differently in order to achieve different outcomes. You will become skilled at identifying different uses of English and be able to analyse and evaluate these uses depending on representation, outcome and meaning.
