Course summary
This course is the equivalent of one A Level. You will develop practical skills and a theoretical understanding of the world of business. You will look in depth at finance, human resources and marketing. A stepping stone course to the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business for those with four GCSEs at the grades indicated above or a top-up course for extra UCAS points and knowledge prior to university. During the course you will develop your group work, IT and presentation skills. The units you will study include: - Elements of accounting, - Marketing, - Human resource management and - Website design. You will have a personal tutor who supports and guides you through the course. You will meet with your personal tutor for group meetings and for personal one to one meetings on a regular basis. The course is a combination of coursework and exams in finance and marketing. You will be assessed in a variety of ways - presentations, role plays and time-limited exercises.

As published by the school
Four GCSEs at grades 4/C or above plus GCSEs in both English and Mathematics are required, one of which must be achieved at a minimum grade 4/C and the other at a minimum grade 3/D; or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business at Merit level plus GCSEs in English and Mathematics, one of which must be achieved at a minimum grade 4/C and the other a minimum grade 3/D (progressing students only) as well as a satisfactory reference from your last school or college.
