Paper 1: Physical Geography • Tectonic processes • Coastal landscapes and change • The water cycle and water insecurity • The carbon cycle and energy security Paper 2: Human Geography • Globalisation • Regenerating places • Superpowers • Global development and connections Paper 3: A synoptic exam based on a resource booklet which focuses on: • Players • Attitudes and actions • Futures and uncertainties On a particular geographical issue from Paper 1 or Paper 2 Students will undertake a piece of coursework that examines a geographical issue of their choosing, linked to topics within Unit 1 and Unit 2. Unit 1 and Unit 2 both have individual written examinations, which contribute 30% each of the overall grade. Students will gain a wide range of skills from studying Geography. These include critical analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving, researching and extended writing skills.
